In March 2020, European countries were suddenly overwhelmed by the Covid-19 pandemic originating from China. The novelty of the pandemic made different national governments and leaders of the EU institutions to respond to this emergency with delays as well as inconsistency. Later on EU understood the challenge it was facing to tame a healthcare, economic and social crisis simultaneously while keeping his unity.
